BuzziGrid by Alain Gilles

The love affair between Alain Gilles and BuzziSpace appears everlasting. The Belgian designer has now come up with the BuzziGrid, which brightens up every meeting room or reception space. The design of the BuzziGrid is reminiscent of the famous BuzziZone and the BuzziDesk but the Grid has to be attached to the ceiling. The Do It Yourself aspect of the BuzziZone is also present: the individual panels can be put together effortlessly in order to create a unique Grid. The lattice work serves more than one purpose: not only is it a highly decorative element in any room, it also serves as a sound buffer. The BuzziGrid is ecologically sound, because it is made of upcycled BuzziFelt (available in different colours).

BuzziTemp

Because you have to: check mails, go over memos for a meeting, skype the home front or quickly log on to social media. The BuzziTemp is a temporary cocoon that shields you from the busy world for a me-moment. The acoustic skin not only provides visual shielding, it reduces the general hubbub and office noises around you. The BuzziTemp also excels in elegance thanks to its decorative legs. They give it an added value in the ultramodern architecture of hotels, airports and offices. Because sometimes you just have to... that is why we created the BuzziTemp. Whenever you want it, wherever!

Alain Gilles Designer of the Year 2012

Alain Gilles Designer of the Year 2012

Alain Gilles is 2012 Designer of the year.

Brussels furniture designer Alain Gilles has been chosen as ‘designer of the year’. Alain’s designs are solid and relevant, and show his industrial responsibility. At the same time, they show a poetic side, say the members of the jury. At INTERIEUR 2012, Alain Gilles will be showing an overview of his most important work.

After Nathalie Dewez last year, Alain Gilles becomes the seventh ‘designer of the year’. Since 2006, this is an initiative of Interieur vzw and the Knack Weekend and Le Vif Weekend magazines, in collaboration with Design museum Gent, Grand Hornu Images and Design September. Alain Gilles (°1970) is somewhat of a latecomer in the design world. After studying political science and marketing management, he spent some time working in the financial sector, before starting a second working life as industrial designer. He first joined designer Xavier Lust, later followed by Quinze & Milan, before opening his own design studio in 2007. He soon developed a very personal approach to product and furniture design, and has since worked with many international manufacturers, including Casamania, Bonaldo, Buzzispace, Galerie Gasserez, Qui est Paul, and o’sun amongst others.

About the designer of the year
The ‘Designer of the Year’ is an initiative of the not-for-profit Interieur vzw, together with the magazines Knack Weekend and Le Vif weekend. It is supported by Design museum Gent, Grand-Hornu Images gallery and Design September. Alain Gilles is the seventh designer to receive the accolade of ‘designer of the year’. The prize was first allocated in 2006 to designer Alain Berteau. He was followed by designers Nedda El-Asmar, Stefan Schöning, Sylvain Willenz, Bram Boo and Nathalie Dewez

INTERIEUR 2012

The 23rd Interieur Biennale will take place from 20 – 28 October 2012 at the Kortrijk Xpo venue. The opening weekend is on 20/21 October, and 22-23 October are reserved for the professional days.
